OOC: I guess thanks are in order...
Dec. 2nd, 2009 08:28 pmBen is completely shocked, awed and humbled that people voted for him in the
arpea_awards. Not only that, but that there are friends who are not part of his everyday playbox who would vote for him. Though he is worried about people stalking him now LOL!
So from the bottom of his little muse heart, both as his kid and adult versions, he says thank you.

Nov. 7th, 2009 06:16 pmPost your three favorite fics of all time you have written for your muse. Give links, a 1-2 sentence summary, and any current season spoilers/warnings that you might need for new readers.
And if you have multiple muses that you want to do this, you need to put it in each muses journal separately with only their fics. After all, some people are friends with one muse, but not another. :)
And if you read and like, leave some comment love. Writers thrive on their egos, after all.
My three:
1. Monster Under the Bed: One of the few prompts done in kid!Ben voice, it's about how Ben defeated the scariest monster of all times and didn't need a .45 to do it.
2. I'm Fine: This takes place before Sam takes over Lucifer in
wayward_au, and shows the unstable mindset that Ben has in ways that he hides way too well from his family.
3. Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Ben loves his Anna more than he can ever express out loud... and sometimes it makes the psychics around him mad.
Bonus - Rise of the Boy King: a very AU prompt from Wayward that scared the bejesus out of me. It's very dark, a lot of death, and he keeps poking me to write more to this world that frankly, I'm scared to look at.

Sibling Time in the New Place
Nov. 1st, 2009 02:56 pmThe apartment was only two weeks old, and already Ben had to clean it up. His mother and Sam had helped him get some furniture for the one bedroom, but he had his own space and it felt good. Of course, he was also living up to the single male sterotype and the place was trashed almost immediately with take-out cartons and dirty clothes.
But today he was cleaning it all up while trying to cook something simple for dinner. He had suggested to Maddie on her birthday that they get together for some sibling time, but it had been put off until now.
It was a Friday night, and he had offered Maddie dinner and a movie and just time to hang out. It got her out of the house, and if she ended up eating and then bailing to go see her boyfriend and he covered for her... well, he couldn't blame her for ditching him for better company.
However, the place should at least look nice when she got there - more than likely their father was going to interrogate her for info on what the place looked like after all.
The food was in the over cooking as he looked up at the clock, wondering just where his sister might be. He debated calling her, but figured she might have just missed one bus and had to grab the next one.

Tonight, show us wealth. Please keep in mind that wealth can take many forms, so don't feel limited to any one definition of the word. Bonus: Tell us how you came by your fortune..or how you lost it.
We've always been well off. Even after the Pulse, my mom never really seemed to struggle for anything. Sure, we moved around a bit, but I never had a cold night or an empty stomach in my life until she died. Technically, I never really have even now because I have friends and family that take care of me.
However, when I went back home to empty a lock box that my mother had, I got a few surprises. The biggest was the letter that confirmed what my mother had told me about Dean being my father. But there was more.
My grandparents were investors when they were young adults. Apparently they had taken stock in technologies like Apple and Microsoft back when they first appeared. When they died... Mom was their only child, so they vested the stocks to her with the stipulation that they continue onto me in the event of her death.
I'm not going to tell you how many there were, but let's just say I'm never going to hurt for money.

Aug. 23rd, 2009 06:44 pmBen pushed himself out from under the Corvette and wiped his hands on his pants. It had been fairly easy to get the parts that he needed to fix Haley's car, it was just the negotiating of the price and then the time to install the pieces that took him so long.
It had been almost two weeks since they had gotten the car, and except for a few voice mails he had left about the car status, he hadn't actually followed up on the whole calling her for a date. Part of which was that he was busy trying to fix her car.
The other part was that he was nervous about doing it. It has been a long time since he had really gone out on a date with a girl, especially one as hot as Haley. And now that he had waited so long, he had probably blown his chances.
But the car was done and so he had to call her and let her know. So he pulled out his cell phone as he walked to the office, dialing her number and hoping that Mitch wasn't around to make another comment about why he hadn't called her yet.

Best of all
I've got my baby
She's mighty fine and says she's all mine
And nothing's going to bring me down
Not today, no, no
The soft sounds Anna made in her sleep woke Ben up sometimes. He didn't mind waking up - who would having a beautiful woman in their arms? In fact, it was those moments he was able to just take a step back and realize how lucky he was.
His hand ran down along her arm, then around her waist and pulled her closer to him. The rest of his family was asleep after the surprise birthday party they had thrown for him, so there was no one to disturb them. No one to hear as he pressed his bare chest against her bare back and kissed her neck.
She made a happy noise and he smiled, nuzzling closer. So much in his life had happened, and still she was here at his side. The one person he knew beyond his family that he could count on.
Ben also knew that without her, he'd be lost. Everything else could fall apart around him and as long as she was there, he could be ok. It had happened before and she helped him survive. But that was a long time ago now and things were better.

What's something people may not know about you?
I'm Fine.
It's one of the phrases Ben uses all the time. How you doing, kid? Everything alright? How's school? Whatever the question was, Ben always had the same answer. It slid off his tongue easily and the quick smile and flash of eyes, change of subject and people believed him.
But Ben wasn't fine, and as he sat alone in his dorm room, far from his family and Anna, he was starting to realize that himself. He had hoped that these feelings were residual emotions that Meg had left in him, but now he was starting to doubt it.
He couldn't explain it. It was like a track in his head that just kept repeating and he didn't know how to make it stop some nights. He hugged his pillow to his face, trying to drown out his own thoughts.

"You can cry, ain't no shame in it."
Will Smith
Ben had been excited all day for his first ever t-ball game. Daddy was sitting in the stands, watching him with a big smile on his face. They had been playing catch for weeks so Ben could be ready for this day. He was so ready to kick some butt!
He wanted to be a pitcher, but Mr. Robinson said that in T-Ball there wasn't a pitcher, and he would have to wait until he was in Little League. So instead he had second base.
Duncan was not really a nice kid on the team and Ben didn't like to play with him. But Daddy had said he needed to be nice and play with Duncan even if he was a poopy head. When it was Duncan's turn to bat, Ben was ready to catch the ball and get him out.
However, as Duncan hit the ball and started to run, he didn't drop the bat. Ben got the ball and was going to tag him out when Duncan swung the bat and the plastic bat went across Ben's face. People were yelling and Ben couldn't see because his face was hurting, but he knew the second that his Daddy's arms were around him and he curled up against his chest.
It was only when Daddy showed up did Ben start to cry too. He wasn't going to let anyone else see him cry because only babies cried. But Daddy didn't mind when Ben cried.
"I don't wanna... play nice anymore Daddy..." he sobbed, and swore that next time he got up to bat, he was gonna hit Duncan right back.

It was hard standing off to the side, finishing his drink as he leaned against his car. Ben knew it was only a few minutes before she would be gone again, but he tried not to focus on that. Especially not as she came jogging back to him from the three truckers who she had been talking to.
The smile on her face let him know she had her next ride, and he tried to hide the disappointment on his face. There was a small part of him that hated seeing her off. He wished he could just keep her at his side and hold her tight and never let her go.
But this was the fate of loving a girl with large wings, he had learned. She needed her freedom and had so many travel urges that she wouldn't be happy with him if he tried to keep her in one spot. She had to take these trip, and he loved her enough to let her go.
Her arms wrapped around his neck and she kissed him. Blindly putting the drink on the roof of his car, he then wrapped his arms around her waist and held her close. It would be another few months before he saw her again, and he needed to remember this moment to last him for all those lonely nights ahead.
Then he picked up her bag and walked her back to the trucker that was waiting. She tossed it up in the cab and slowly pulled away from him, losing contact first with his side, then her hand slowly running down his arm, into his palm, and he locked fingers with her a moment, just squeezing them.
Please don't go, his eyes whispered, but they were hidden behind the smile as he left her go to climb up into the passenger seat. The trucker closed the door, and Ben stopped to give him just a single look. A warning, one that told the trucker that if anything happened to his girlfriend, Ben would come looking for him with a vengeance.
Then a minute later the truck was pulling out of the station and onto the open road. A hand waved out the window to him, which Ben waved back before heading to his car and back to college. The car was empty now, and he tried futilely to fill the space with music. It just had to last until he was back at school, and then that little world would engulf him again and it wouldn't hurt so much to be apart from her.
But he would still miss her, and worry that she was ok. And especially wait until she was back in his arms again.

Jun. 19th, 2009 02:54 pmHe had forgotten the day where the change had happened; couldn't remember if it was gradual or a switch that was just flipped. Either way, that wasn't the point anymore. The point was the same thing his father had started to teach him.
Save People. Hunt Things. Family Business.
Not much left of the family, besides him and well, of course his daughter. But the Winchesters were a cursed breed, and for her own safety he sent her somewhere in which nothing could harm her. She'd have to face this world eventually, but at least he could let her live in ignorance as long as she could.
The same his mother had done for Ben. He now understood the pain his mother must have felt when faced with telling Dean about his son, but that was decades past and there was no point in regret.
Instead, he had to worry about the present. The demon that had taken out his father and uncle was still on the loose. His brother was a loose canon and Ben only hoped that he could find him one day and save what might be left of his human side, if the soldier beast had not taken over completely.
"Sire?" A black eyed man walked up to him, staying a few inches away from Ben and bowing his head respectfully. "A word?"
"What is it?" Ben asked, not looking up from the complicated spell he was working on conjuring.
"I just... we are worried that this will not work. Caim is strong and -"
"And what?" Ben lifted his head to look at the demon, his eyes fading to white a moment in anger before the blue iris came back into focus. "You are afraid of going back to hell, Cyrus? Hell is walking on Earth now, and without this fight, it will only get worse. We have no choice. I will be ready to take him on. Now stop your sniveling and make sure that the warriors are ready with the traps."
The demon nodded, bowing a bit before retreating out the door. Ben waved his hand, using his powers to slam the door shut behind him before reaching for the wine glass beside him and sipping the dark red liquid.
No, he would be ready for Caim and avenge the deaths of his family. That he was certain of.

Jun. 19th, 2009 10:24 amBen sat off to the side of the field, watching the other kids at T-Ball practice with their fathers, playing catch and practicing hitting the ball. The game was going to begin soon, and all he could do was play with the ties on his glove while he waited.
"Hey, kiddo. What's wrong?"
Ben looked up at his mother and shrugged a bit. "Nothin'. Just don't got anyone to warm up with."
Lisa smiled a bit, and went to kiss her son on the top of his head. Ben, however, shifted and got out of the way, looking at her. "Not in front of the team, Mom!"
"Ok... ok." She held her hands up. "Is there something I can do to help you warm up?"
"No. You're a mom. Moms aren't supposed to help. Dads help and Moms sit in the bleachers."
"Ben. We've been though this..."
"I know Mom." Ben rolled his eyes. "You're special because you get to be both. But you're a chick and chicks can't play ball."
"Oh really?" Lisa got up and took the baseball out of her son's glove. "Go stand out by third base."
Ben raised an eyebrow, then sighed and ran out to the base. Lisa watched him a moment, then tossed the ball to her son - overhand - so that it would reach him easily, but gentle enough not to hurt him. Ben caught the ball, then looked at his mother in shock.
"So? What you think about that?" Lisa asked him.
"That was awesome!" Ben threw the ball back, not making it all the way but it got there. "You really rock, Mom."
"I'm glad you think so," Lisa said with a smile. "So can I help now?"
Ben thought a moment, then nodded. "Sure. You're better than half the dads anyway. They only toss underhand."

Jun. 18th, 2009 10:17 pm"Shh..." Ben held his finger to his lip, looking at the offensive lamp that had dared to trip him. No, someone had decided to rearrange all the furniture on him while he had been away at the bonfire party at the river.
The soon-to-be Senior Class had gathered for a night of music, swimming, grilling and beer. However, Ben hadn't exactly mentioned that last piece to his parents.
Now did he warn them that he would be stumbling in at two in the morning.
The lights flipped on and blinded him a moment, and then he was able to make out his father on the stairs, shotgun aimed at home. His mother was only a few feet behind him, scowling.
"Awww shit..."

Jun. 4th, 2009 10:49 pmDear Anna,
College is fine. I miss you.
You may have heard about the YouTube Video that my lab partner Cas posted.
I don't really remember that night because I think I drank most of that bottle of whiskey.
But no, I don't still have the kimono and I will not be repeating any performances.
See you soon,
Ben

charloft: Birthday Pictures!!!!!
May. 20th, 2009 10:45 am
That's from my birthday party!!! It was epic. There was a moon bounce filled with chicks, and a race car flags and even cars on the birthday cake that I'm eating, and I got the new AC/DC CD! And if you look at the black balloon, it has my name on it and Mom totally got them to use the letters that they use on the AC/DC covers! And see the tall guy dressed like me? That's Dean. He's totally my hero. Like, the next day he taught me how to get Ryan to give me back my gameboy. Mom wasn't really happy about that though...
And he's totally like Batman because he rescued me when I got kidnapped by changlings the next night. And I was like Robin in helping rescue the girls while he took on the big monster!
I don't know who that chick is in the background behind Dean though. Probably one of my mom's friends who only came to eat cake and leave me some crappy present.
“You don't need to worry about me. In a fight I just kind of stand in the back and just yell stuff.”
| Friday Night Lights
Before I left for college, we joked about going on one last hunt. A big father and sons bonding thing. However, as we tracked down the ghoul in the back alleys of sector 2, it became fairly obvious that I wasn't meant for this life.
I mean, Ruby kinda called it once before. When I had to train while Sam was in the coma, she told me I didn't have what it would take. Sure, I'm a Winchester. I've got the same spirit and stubbornness that Dean, Alec and Sam have. I've got gifts that while they are fixed, I use less and less and in a way, not really sorry that I haven't kept up my training.
However, I had something that none of them really had. Well, Dad did, but only for a few years. A mother. Alec jokes that I'm the stablest one in the family because of it. I grew up normal, in a loving family far from wars and hate and demons... well, except that one time with the changeling and all.
I guess that makes me different than them. I'm not able to stomach a lot of the things that go on during a hunt, even if I try to fake it. And Dean never really wanted me to get into this job, so I have a feeling my telling him I wanted to leave and go to college was a wish granted in his book.
It would also explain why I'm left to stand on a fire escape while Alec and Dean slug it out with the ghoul down below. I helped them with the tracking and singling the woman out in the crowd. Now I just sit back and watch the fight.
Well, not just watch it.
"Oh come on, Alec! You're letting a chick kick your ass! Where are those ninja skills - ouch. Dad, you alright? Dude, now that's gonna leave a mark. Girl ain't gonna be going on any dinner dates soon now."
Hey, I'm still part Winchester. What I lack in fighting skills, I make up in my smart mouth. I'm sure that still makes Dad proud.
